The Plate Spinner draws from early television variety acts including Erich Brehn's performance on "The Ed Sullivan Show" on February 16, 1969. The task is the same; the plate spinner has his routine while trying to complete other simple tasks such as reading a book, fixing a cocktail, checking his phone. Later, like the phoenix, our hero emerges from the mess, relearning how to walk off frame.
