Wozzeck

Wozzeck, a simple-minded soldier, is still outside morality but close to the forces of nature. He is surrounded by their hidden mysteries and forced to surrender to them. This opera is not the usual kind of pleasure. It is beautifully made but awfully sincere about grotesque realities of life. It shows people in extremes and makes their anguish into something musically glorious.
